ASx Enhanced Authorization
ASx supports rules-based pre and post-authorization checking. ASx
allows rules to be defined explicitly via its user interface or for rules to be
fed in from an external fraud management solution. The scope of effect for any rule
can be applied to individual cards, accounts, card product types, bin ranges and
general multi-card groupings.
The rule checks can be constructed from any of the following:
Transaction type
Merchant category
Merchant location
Transaction frequency (velocity)
Transaction amounts
Country of origin
POS condition code
EMV information analysis
When a transaction is trapped by a rule applied in pre-authorization mode, a configurable
return code is passed back to the initiating network or device. The transaction
return code can include the usual decline, refer to issuer and capture card. Additionally,
alerts can be made and reports made to show the transaction activity.
When a transaction is trapped by a post authorization rule, various actions can
be configured to occur including initiation of new pre-authorization checks from
that point onwards and posting of the transaction history to an external fraud management
solution.

External Fraud Management
ASx provides an interface that enables external fraud management
solutions to be integrated with ASx. An example of such a system would be Falcon
by FairIsaac. The ASx interface allows "scorings" to be sent to ASx, which are then
used as a basis for future transaction authorization. ASx is capable of passing
transactions to an online fraud management solution for verification should a transaction
be trapped by any of the processing rules applied from the configuration.
